Wearing Boys Clothes

Is it just me or have you walked down the street, saw a boy in a really nice jumper/T-shirt/Jacket and thought of buying one for yourself but refrained because, well, it’s for boys? Stop if you have. Boy’s clothes are the best. I mean, sure, they’re not great for special events like parties etc. But on an everyday casual basis, they’re so nice and comfortable. And d’you want to know the best thing? Pulling them off is way easier than it looks.

Item number 1 – The jumper

If you have a boyfriend, it’s more than likely that you’ve stolen his jumper or hoodie at least once, be it because it smells of Joop or because it’s still got that softness on the inside, you’ve probably worn it and not returned it for a while, right? So this is probably the easiest item to pair with just about anything, leggings for lounging around? Yep. Skinny jeans? Probably makes your butt looks good. Joggers? Sure, go full out slobby slacker, it’ll still look great. This jumper is from Criminal Damage with one pocket to the left of the chest that actually unbuttons, it’s not just for show like it would be on most girls jumpers, you can actually put stuff in there.

Item number 2 – The Denim Shirt/The Shirt

One of my favourite ‘go to’ male garments is my denim shirt, it’s thick, it looks good if I wear knee highs or shorts and tights in that “I woke up like this” way and  personally, I just think they look subtly sexy if worn with the correct bottoms. Although I can’t do it with this shirt as it’s too thick, with thinner shirts, I like to tie the bottom up, it brings in your waist, makes it looks a little more feminine and is just all round kind of cute.

Item number 3 – The Not So Fashionable Jumpers

By “Not So Fashionable” I mean work jumpers, mainly. In my town, there’s a vintage shop with loads of jumpers that have company names I have never heard of on but somehow, they look really comfy and wearable, much like the normal jumper, just cheap and cosy. This is my dad’s work jumper, it smells of oil and I don’t know much about the company but it’s baggy, the sleeves come over my hands and there’s something about it that is just so effortless.

Item number 4 – The Jacket

This jacket is at the top of my list, I don’t think there’s been a day where I haven’t worn it since I got it, it goes with more or less anything and it’s warm and great. I cannot explain how much I love it. And yes, it’s  male jacket. Also, the inside is tartan and I really like tartan at the moment, have been since Christmas and I don’t think my little obsession with it is going to end any time soon. Personally, I think everyone should have a jacket like this in their wardrobe, it’s lightweight and affordable and there’s something about it that makes me feel it says a lot about your personality.

I also love wearing “boys” clothes. They have the best cardigans and sweaters in the men’s section! Great article.

Totally think we should wear what we want to wear… including “boys” stuff, and likewise that we should be open-minded to “boys” wearing “girls” stuff. Sick of the gender binary… let’s dismantle it!

You couldn’t be “righter” , if there’s a word like that. I looooove menswear!
